Revisting a painting5Aug 2018
I probably painted this one 2 years ago. I loved where it was painted from. I actually attend a boot camp and in the winter months we have this view for boot camp. This initially inspired me to paint here.
Then a week or so ago I noticed the Erythinia tree blooming again and was inspired to revisit my painting. It was s similar day. I oiled out the painting and made some adjustments. I’m happy with the results. The second one is the final result!
Exhibition timeSo as they year draws to a close I am prepping for my exhibition. It’s always a great time for reflection and assessment.
Some times as happens we start doubting ourselves but as you see growth slowly happening , one is encouraged to keep moving forward. I read often about artists and their journey and mostly it’s just the same story. The more you draw and practice your process and keep challenging yourself the better you get. So let me get back to my hanging process and get this done. New year 2020It’s been my custom the last few years to see the New Year in painting.
I painted the fireworks for a few years and for the past 2 years the fireworks have been banned but the beach front is still alive with those wishing to festively usher the year in! The pink house as it’s commonly known “Knot for Sail”has a disco style beach party. 2019

LockdownWho would have guessed how 2020 would pan out.
It makes one realize the value of the “God willing “.... I will be doing well his and that. I imagine that most people have stories to tell of plans had been scuppered by the dreaded Covid 19. We were fortunate not to be away and actually just had guests arrive from the UK. They spent a weekend and quickly hot footed back before the big lockdown. It’s been a wonderful lesson in life and I am “a half full person” and chose to make the most of this time. I had just ordered a load of canvases.. and that was all I needed to keep happy and going. It was wonderful to paint just ordinary life that is part of our everyday. AuthorBeth Lowe... just on a journey learning to see, learning about colour, values, composition and more... |
